Officially launched yesterday by Mr. SM Nasarudin Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama SM Nasimudin, Executive Chairman and CEO of the Naza Group of Companies, the new locally assembled 407 has finally reached the market.

This CKD version comes equipped with a 2.0l VVT (Variable Valve Timing) which produces 140hp and 200Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm respectively. As a result the 407 will take you from naught to 100kmh in 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 206kmh. It also comes with a newly revised automatic transmission.

Other features includes 7 airbag and electro chrome rear view mirror. Basically what this does is automatically darkens the mirror to prevent glare caused by headlights of the cars behind at night.

There will be 5 colours to choose from, Aluminium, Iron Grey, White Gold, Montebello Blue and Nera Black. Aesthetically, the new car comes with new 17” sports wheels and colour coded exterior with chrome trimming.

For practicality and comfort, the new 407 features Xenon lights for better night driving, automatic headlights, wipers and even electrically controlled front seats. The features that best show off the car’s premium image are the inclusion of the leather seats and the factory fitted GPS system.

Two versions are made available during the launch. These are the standard version at RM125,888 without the GPS system and leather interior and the full specification version at RM133,888 (both prices on the road). Both of which are lower than the pre-launch estimated price.

Since its international launch, the elegant, distinctive and dynamic 407 has set benchmarks in its segment due to its high level of roadholding and comfort. The 407 has also managed to add a touch of style with its distinctive design into a segment which is mostly based on space and practicality. As for safety, the 407 is also among the top of its segment with a full 5 star EuroNCAP crash test rating. This is achieved with a total of 7 airbags which is also class leading in its price and size segment in Malaysia.

En SM Nasarudin adds that NSB is committed to three important factors that he believes will be the key to Peugeot’s success in Malaysia. The three are the commitment to reduce parts pricing, to improve availability of parts and to increase the service network. Since NSB launched the Peugeot brand in February 2008, it has been progressively rationalizing its parts pricing, improving on the availability of parts and to increase the service network. Currently, NSB is working on opening three other NSB owned Peugeot service centres.

Those interested in the new 407 may call the Peugeot Client Interaction Centre at 03-2617 7777, or the Peugeot Careline 1-800-88-6292; or log onto www.peugeot.com.my. Showrooms will also be opened this weekend to receive customers who are interested in the new 407.
