Tata Nano in Malaysia?
April 22, 2008 by Terence

A possibility if Naza group who are holding initial franchising talks with India’s largest automobile company, Tata Motors. Rumor has it that the current franchise holders, DRB-HICOM Bhd are not planning to renew their franchise which is due to end this coming June.
However it seems there are 2 more companies interested in winning the franchise deal for Malaysia, Sime Darby Bhd. and Brooklands Motors Sdn Bhd who is also the franchise holder for Citroen in our country.
Furthermore securing the franchise is not expected to be easy as the Indian automaker has two entities operating independently - the passenger and commercial vehicle units. Which could actually end up with the passenger unit being handle by one franchise and the commercial vehicle unit by another. Since the former could be locally assembled while the latter has sales of up to RM60 million annually.

If Tata safety claim is real, then many students will welcome Nano with open hands.

if the quality and performance are comparable or better than myvi with price cheaper than myvi i’m getting my mom to buy one for me
well, nano is supposed to be the cheapest car in the world but with all the levy and tax and everything, the car will probably be sold like 4 times the original price. usd 2500 x 4 = usd 10000 x 3.5 = myr 35000. wow… like a used myvi

i take that back. i won’t buy that car considering that it doesn’t pass the emission standard. i’m pretty much an environmentalist. plus it’s not a hatchback (it’s deceiving)
