New Toyota Corolla Altis launching this week

Just heard from a friend that he was offered the new Corolla at RM117,000++ OTR and could take delivery of the car next week. So it suffice to say the new 2008 Toyota Corolla is launching here very soon, end of this week in fact.

UPDATE: Got the price range for the new Altis, and seems that the 2.0l is not on the list.

• 1.6E: RM102,900
• 1.8E: RM109,900
• 1.8G: RM117,900

From what I gathered from him, the Corolla offered was the 1.8l version. It comes with 2 airbags and vehicle stability system but without any leather seats and 16″ alloys. Not sure if the 2.0l will ever get launched here but it would be hard for UMW to challenge Honda and Mitsubishi without it.

It also remains to be seen if UMW plans to bring in the sporty black and grey interior of the European Corolla or the luxury beige wood trim style from Thailand. I just hope it’s the former.
